Some pool projects are beautiful. Others become part of a family’s story. For Chuck and Sherry Kirby, their new backyard pool is both.
After 30 years with their previous pool and deck, the Kirbys knew it was time for a change. Replacing a pool that had been part of their home for decades was a major project, so they wanted to find a pool company they could trust from the very beginning of the design process through construction and beyond.

A Complete Pool Transformation
The Kirbys’ project features a Leisure Pools Pinnacle in Graphite Gray, creating a beautiful centerpiece for their backyard and a fresh new setting for spending time with family and friends.
The Pinnacle offers a sophisticated look with clean lines and plenty of space for enjoying the water, but what really makes this project stand out is the way the pool was integrated into the overall backyard.
From the beginning, the Kirbys had a vision for creating a space that felt like home. Our design team worked closely with them to bring that vision to life, including a custom waterfall that has become one of the family’s favorite features.
As Sherry explained, our designer listened to their ideas, answered their questions and helped them work through the details of the project. Together, they came up with the idea for the waterfall, adding a unique element that gives the pool even more personality.
And the landscaping? That was all Chuck.
He took on the project himself, including moving tons of lava rock to create the finished landscape surrounding the pool. The result is a backyard that feels personal from every angle, with the pool, waterfall and landscaping working together to create a space designed specifically for the family.
A Construction Experience Built Around Communication
Replacing a 30-year-old pool isn’t a small undertaking. For the Kirbys, one of the things that stood out about working with Kevin Sparks Signature Pools was knowing that every phase of the project was being coordinated by one team.
“Once you’re on the schedule, everything is coordinated,” Chuck explained.
That meant the Kirbys didn’t have to spend their time wondering which subcontractor was coming next or trying to coordinate the different phases of construction themselves.
But beyond the organization, Chuck said the team’s respect for their property made an especially strong impression.
During construction, Ryan, Justin and Shawn stood out for their attention to detail and pride in their work. For homeowners living through a major backyard renovation, having a team that takes care of the property and pays attention to the little things can make a huge difference.
The Relationship Didn’t End When Construction Did
One of the most meaningful parts of the Kirbys’ story isn’t just how their pool was built. It’s what happened nearly two years later.
When two of the pool lights stopped working, Chuck assumed they were probably no longer covered by warranty.
But when service technician David looked into the issue, he quickly explained that the lights were covered, and our team replaced them without hassle.
The Kirbys also had a salt cell replaced under warranty.
“They came out right away and made the whole process easy,” Sherry said.

Building the pool is only one part of the relationship. Being there for the homeowner after construction is complete is just as important.
A Backyard That Became the Heart of the Home
Today, the Kirbys’ pool is much more than a beautiful backyard upgrade.

“This summer, our daughter and granddaughter came from Japan to spend the summer with us,” Sherry shared. The family even celebrated their granddaughter’s eighth birthday with a pool party surrounded by family and friends.
For the Kirbys, those moments are what the project was really about.
“Our pool has become the heart of our home,” Sherry said.
And that’s something we love about pool projects. A pool may start as a construction project, but once the work is finished, it becomes the backdrop for everyday life. Summer afternoons. Birthday celebrations. Family visits. Kids laughing in the water. Friends gathered around the backyard.
Those are the memories that make the investment worthwhile.
