We often say around here “where there is a will, there is a Sparks!” For this sloped Forest HIlls backyard, we found a way that we fell in love with!
When we first met with this sweet family, they were starting their backyard makeover with a covered structure that was like a screened in porch leaving a small pool area. They dreamed of having a smaller pool, but she had some elevation issues and an existing wooden porch. Unsure whether or not they wanted to keep the porch, we partnered together to design a backyard space that made sense for them.
With our KSSP design experience, we focused on the positioning of the pool as that was most important. We wanted to give enough space between the house and the pool so they could have a nice area that they could entertain, put chaise lounges out and fully enjoy the pool. Due to the drop off in the backyard, we made the pool more narrow avoiding the expense of a retaining wall. With a desire to change the backyard view, we designed a water feature wall for privacy and ambiance letting them enjoy their chaise lounge.
In greater Nashville, we see a lot of small and tight access backyards. As a company, we offer solutions to customers in these situations so they can fully take advantage of their whole backyard space. It is important to mix the textures, pavers and artificial turf to bring a new kind of element to the design. We have found resourceful machines to allow us to access the backyard with needed materials and not drive up the cost of the project greatly. It is with this experience, that we delight to create solutions in backyards for families who have a small space.
